Enough information can be found in popular sources about this superstar. What is not very widely known however, is that, long before Fats Domino became the rock 'n' roll hero of the mid-1950's, he was an icon in R&B, having had many records on the R&B charts by the time rock 'n' roll jumped over the railroad track in 1954. His first big hit, a reported million-seller, was "The Fat Man," recorded in December, 1949, and released in early 1950. This was one of the first true rock and roll records ever made.
