These two tracks were recorded in September of 1949 by Philadelphia-based Chris Powell and His Five Blue Flames. Philly was also the hometown of Jimmy Preston, who had recorded the original version of "Rock The Joint" in May of that year. One thing that sets Powell's cover version apart is the very tasteful guitar work by Eddie Lambert.
In the late 40's and early 50's, the Blue Flames toured up and down the east coast, especially the Philly and south Jersey shore area. Little is known of Chris Powell, but on one record he declared that he is from Jamaica.
